The Tutu Times
About Us
Who Are We & What Do We Do?
The Tutu Times is an online newspaper where we inform the youth and others about the activities and events offered at The Desmond Tutu Youth Centre.
There is a team of six Youth Interns working at The Desmond Tutu Youth Centre in 3 departments:
EduZone: The education support component,
ZoneActive: The sports and recreational component, and
HealthZone: The health component.

We also have international volunteers who come from all around the world to give us a helping hand, in making the Youth Centre a loving, caring and ideal place to be.
We have recently said goodbye to Alice Jiang,Jennie Brophy and Megan Auzenberg - they have committed all of their hard work and energy to the youth centre for the past few weeks they will be sorely missed my both the kids and staff.
We greatfuly welcome our new volunteer. They are going to be with the youth center for the next three months.
Thanks for all your help guys!

NAME: Jillian O'Banion
WHERE I'M FROM: USA/New York City
TIME SPENT HERE: 3-6 months, still undecided
WHY: I had never been to Africa and was presented with an opportunity to come to learn about South Africa as well as myself. I have been working in marketing and photography for years and thought that I could put it to use in another way...by helping the Desmond Tutu Foundation. I'm here to grow myself and, hopefully, help grow this foundation and those around me.
NAME:Yingi Asamaowei
WHERE I'M FROM : Bayelsa State in Nigeria.
TIME SPENT HERE : 6 months.
WHY :I’m here because I love public health and I love to travel. Volunteering at this foundation gives me the opportunity to both gain practical experience in resolving an important public health issue and explore a new country."
